Shipping to Korea, something you need to know

Published by January 17,2020

China is South Korea's largest trading partner and South Korea is China's third largest trading partner. In 2016, China-South Korea trade reached 211.4 billion U.S. dollars. For 25 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and South Korea, relations between the two countries have developed smoothly, and bilateral trade has become bigger and bigger. With the increase of trade, South Korea's marine exports have become larger and larger, however, many customers do not know much about South Korea's marine export related policies, which has some impact on exports.

South Korean shipping export precautions

1) Under normal circumstances, customs clearance is not allowed in South Korea in a private name, unless the person has a real estate, a restaurant, and a store in South Korea can provide a business license!

2) The weight of a container to South Korea should not exceed 25 tons. If it exceeds 25 tons, it will be inspected by the Korean customs. The weight of Korean road trailers is generally limited to 17 tons in small cabinets and 23 tons in large cabinets.

3) For sea transportation to Jeju Island, South Korea, there is no direct ship, but it can only be sent to Busan, South Korea for barge

4) Due to some countries' restrictions on China's trade, some companies want to send the goods to South Korea for the certificate of origin. This method will not work. South Korea cannot provide fake certificates of origin. Certificates of origin can only be provided in Korea for goods that are truly produced in Korea.

5) Incheon, South Korea, is divided into Incheon Old Port, Incheon New Port, and Gyeongin Port. Many Korean buyers do not like to send goods to Incheon Gyeongin Port because the trailer fee is relatively high!

6) Seoul, South Korea is neither a port nor an international airport. The nearest port and airport to Seoul, South Korea is Incheon Airport. 7 Incheon, South Korea is divided into Incheon Old Port, Incheon New Port, and Gyeongin Port. Many Korean buyers do not like to send goods to Incheon Gyeongin Port because of the high towing fee.
