How to calculate shipping freight for special cargo

Published by December 06,2019

For special goods, is the shipping freight calculated as ordinary goods? How to calculate the problem of shipping freight? We have sorted out the calculation of shipping freight for some special goods when using containers for shipment

(1) Group of goods

Liner companies usually give a certain discount on the shipping freight for groups of goods that meet the relevant regulations and requirements in the shipping freight book and are consigned as LCL. In calculating the shipping freight, the weight or volume of the pallet itself should be deducted, but This kind of deduction cannot exceed 10% of the weight or volume of the group of goods (cargo plus pallet), and the excess is still charged at the rate applicable to the cargo on the pallet. However, for the group of goods consigned by FCL, the preferential shipping freight rate cannot be enjoyed, and the pallet of the FCL generally does not deduct its weight or volume when calculating the shipping freight.

(2) Furniture and luggage

For furniture or luggage loaded in a container, shipping freight and other related charges shall be charged at 100% of the container's internal volume, except for assembly into boxes and repacking into the container. This rule generally applies to items that are moving.

(3) Clothing

When garments are loaded in containers for transportation by carrier, the carrier usually only accepts the full container load "stack yard one yard" (CY / CY) transport delivery method, and the owner provides the necessary clothing packing materials such as hangers Wait. shipping freight is calculated based on 85% of the container's internal volume. If, in addition to the clothes in the box, other goods are loaded, the clothes will still be charged at 85% of the box capacity, and other goods will be charged at the actual volume. However, when the total billing volume of the two exceeds 100% of the container capacity, the excess will be free of shipping freight. In this case, the cargo owner shall provide a cargo measurement certificate issued by a notary body with the consent of the carrier.

The return shipment refers to the goods from the original port or place of shipment by the original carrier after a certain period of time after unloading at the port of discharge or place of delivery. For such return shipments, the carrier generally gives a certain shipping freight discount. For example, when the goods are unloaded at the port of discharge or the place of delivery six months after the original carrier is shipped back to the original port of goods or the place of delivery, the full container (Original box) The return shipping freight is charged at 85% of the original shipping freight, and the LCL cargo is charged at 90% of the original shipping freight. However, all expenses incurred during the detention of the goods at the port of unloading or the place of delivery shall be borne by the applicant.
