How to calculate the standard shipping fee?

Published by December 18,2019

There are various rules in the rate table:

(1) Calculated according to the weight of the cargo (W). For example, 1 metric ton (1000 kg), 1 long ton (1016 kg) or 1 short ton (907.2 kg) is a calculation unit, also called weight ton.

(2) Calculated according to the size or measurement of the cargo, and it is represented by "M". For example, 1 cubic meter (about 35.3147 cubic feet) or 40 cubic feet is a unit of calculation, also known as size ton or volume ton.

(3) According to the weight or size of the goods, choose the one with the higher freight charge to calculate the freight, expressed as "W / M".

(4) Charge a certain percentage of the freight according to the FOB price of the goods as the freight, said ad valorem freight, expressed as "ADVALOREM" or "ad.val." This was originally Latin, meaning in English (according tovalue).

(5) According to the weight or size or value of the goods, choose one of the higher charges to calculate the freight, which is expressed as "W / Morad.val."

(6) Choose the higher one according to the weight or size of the goods, plus the ad valorem freight calculation, expressed as "W / Mplusad.val."

(7) Each unit is charged as one unit, such as live animals and live animals, as "perhead"; vehicles are sometimes charged as "perunit"; at least the freight is "per bill of lading" (PerB / L).

(8) The temporarily negotiated price (openrate). Freight will be charged at the price temporarily agreed by the carrier and the shipper. Generally used for low-priced goods.

According to the general rate table: if different goods are mixed in one package (except for containers), all goods will be charged as the high-charged ones. The same kind of goods have different charging standards due to different packaging, but if the specific packaging form is not stated at the time of shipment, all goods will be charged as the high-priced packaging. In the same bill of lading, there are two or more goods with different pricing standards. If the name and quantity are not listed at the time of shipment, the pricing standard and the freight shall be calculated as the higher one. This should be noted when packing and shipping. In addition, for samples without commercial value, the ship can be requested to ship free of charge when the volume does not exceed 0.2 cubic meters and the weight does not exceed 50 kg.

There is also a minimum freight rate stipulated in the liner rate table: the minimum freight rate for each bill of lading is determined according to different regions, whether or not transshipment.
