Real Time Container Tracking Service

Published by July 06,2022

APM Terminals implemented a container tracking solution at the Port of Valencia, Spain.

According to APM Terminals, the service, called Track & Trace, enables customers to access real-time data on their containers shipping, check real-time vessel schedules and deadlines, save containers to a container watchlist and set up email alerts.

The Maersk-owned port operator said that customers can track import and export containers through the website using the container number, the booking number or the bill of lading number provided by the shipping company.

In addition, the data includes the vessel's estimated arrival time, unloading time, container status, pickup availability, container details and when boxes will leave the terminal.

The real-time vessel schedule also provides cargo deadlines by container type and shipping line, as well as current estimated arrival and departure times.

If customers wish to track a larger number of containers, they will be prompted to save the container to a personal container watch list, according to a statement. This saves customers the time and effort of constantly copying and pasting their containers into the search to retrieve the latest status.

Additionally, from the page customers can set up email alerts that provide snapshots at specific points in time.

At the same time, they can choose which day they would like to be notified and whether they will receive it once or twice a day at a specified time.

APM Terminals said customers tracking large containers can view real-time API data streaming directly into their transportation management systems.

In the past, customers needed to have multiple accounts with different systems at different terminals in order to conduct business. In the future, their goal is to provide access to all of our services from one place and with just one account.
