Ethiopian Airlines plans to open 3 new Chinese destinations

According to reports, Ethiopian aviation media expert Dawit Temsgen revealed on Saturday (January 11) that Ethiopian Airlines plans to open three new Chinese destinations. He said Egypt Air intends to open new routes to Chongqing, Shenzhen and Zhengzhou.


"Ethiopian Airlines intends to expand its network to Chongqing, Shenzhen and Zhengzhou and has applied for permission to open routes."


Temsgen told Xinhuanet: "Ethiopia and the Chinese government are working together to expedite the approval process, and Ethiopian Airlines will open new routes as soon as it is approved."


Temsgen also pointed out that Ethiopian Airlines is also preparing to expand its current operations in China, such as encrypting the frequency of flights on the Guangzhou route to two flights per day.

At present, Ethiopian Airlines operates one daily passenger flight from Addis Ababa to Guangzhou and Beijing, with three flights per week to Chengdu. In addition, it has daily passenger and cargo flights to Hong Kong and Shanghai. EgyptAir is one of the first African airlines to open flights to China.


Recently, EgyptAir also announced a series of measures to enhance its presence in the Chinese market. At present, China is already Egypt's largest single aviation market.
